My representative in Australia, South Pacific Boat Company, has get the order for a first NC cut plywood kit for a Stir Ven, a day boat, and also a raid boat, with exceptional performances. About 40 Stir Ven are now sailing. 25 have been built by home builders, from plan only, plan and full size patterns or plan and kit. Mickael Randall, in Australia too has built his Stir Ven from the plan only. He has an interesting blog.
The Australian kit is cut into Hoop Pine marine plywood. Hoop Pine in a fully sustainable ressource from Queensland plantation forest. It is an excellent specie for marine application. The plywood manufactured by Austral is of superior quality and is used in replacement of both okume and sapele plywood. The format of Hoop Pine plywood panel is 2 400 X 1 200 mm and the nesting of parts into panels (see sample below) have been completely updated. CNC plywood kit for Stir Ven are now available in many countries in Europe and North America.
